Winning Practices to Better Support Caregivers

What Is a Winning Practice?

A winning practice is an approach that can provide benefits in addressing the diverse needs of caregivers. It relates to service development, service delivery, and the approaches that should be prioritized. The winning practices presented here are not an end in themselves, but rather a reflection of evolving practices that can be refined over time. They are considered “winning” because, when combined, they are more likely to have a positive impact on caregivers’ quality of life.

Geneviève Gravel

Training and Knowledge Transfer Coordinator, L’Appui pour les proches aidants

Winning practices are the result of a collective effort. More than 60 caregiving organizations generously shared their experiences, knowledge, and expertise. The winning practices evolved through meaningful exchanges among practitioners, clinicians, researchers, and caregivers.

Guillaume Joseph

Executive Director, L’Appui pour les proches aidants

This project aims to update the practices developed by L’Appui in 2013 and 2016. These practices focus on psychosocial support, respite care, and information and training services, and have been revised to include all caregiver profiles. In addition to these areas, the winning practices explore themes such as post-caregiving support, specific support for male caregivers, and the use of digital technologies within organizations.
