Winning Practices in Information and Training

Practice

#9 – Ensure that practitioners have the qualifications, skills, and essential attitudes required for information and training services

Practitioners’ attitudes and skills are fundamental to providing high-quality information and training services. Practitioners have the appropriate qualifications, skills, attitudes, and ethical stance required for helping relationships and knowledge transfer. They enrich the support provided to caregivers by being respectful, professional, compassionate, and genuinely supportive.

Practitioners’ ability to engage in introspection and reflective practice allows them to adapt the activities offered to meet caregivers’ needs.

Practice

#10 – Provide practitioners offering information and training services with foundational and ongoing training

Foundational training is essential to ensure high-quality, consistent, and appropriate information and training services that meet the needs of caregivers. It helps strengthen practitioners’ skills in communication, psychosocial support, and understanding the diverse realities of caregivers.

Continuing education helps maintain and update practitioners’ skills, integrate new practices and knowledge, and ensure they are well prepared to deliver information and training sessions that are adapted, engaging, and responsive to caregivers’ needs.
