While it’s true that using new technologies is the easiest way to keep in touch and entertain your loved ones, not everyone feels comfortable using them. Here are a few useful links to help you use your tablet like a pro!

iOS, Android or Windows?

This is the first question you should ask yourself – what is the operating system of my tablet? In other words, what makes it work? The first two are the most popular – iOS and Android. The third one is Windows.

You probably have iOS if your device is an Apple iPad. Click here to read a comprehensive guide on using an iPad. You can also visit the official Apple site, here

Otherwise, you probably have an Android tablet if your device is one of the following brands: Acer, Alcatel, Amazon, Asus, Contixo, Datawind, Dragon, Electronics, Elo Touchsystems, Ematic, Fire HD, Google, Haoqin, HP, Huawei, Lenovo, LG, Microsoft, Minno, Motorola, Rand Mcnally, Samsung, Smartab, Sylvania, TFY, Touch, Vankyo, Winnovo or Xiaomi.

You may also have a Microsoft tablet that operates on Windows. Click here to get help for
this type of tablet, also called a Surface. Also read this guide for more information.

Why should I offer a tablet to my loved one?

In addition to connecting with family and friends, tablets can adapt to the specific needs of seniors. The device has quality of life adjustments such as screen brightness, volume level and even font size that can be accessed in the device’s Preferences section.

The device also helps build self-esteem; a senior that succeeds in using their tablet might feel empowered and proactive, which in turn improves their feeling of well-being in these challenging times.

Let’s not forget that these devices keep their minds busy and provide excellent cognitive stimulation!
