Point de service Vaudreuil-Soulanges (Vaudreuil-Soulanges Service Point)
Through the Vaudreuil-Soulanges service point, the Société Alzheimer Suroît wants to improve accessibility to the organization’s services for caregivers of seniors in this area. A local physical meeting and learning space fosters a feeling of belonging and encourages greater participation of caregivers. The goal of this project is to break the isolation of caregivers by offering them services to improve their wellness. In addition, the Société Alzheimer Suroît pays special attention to the needs of anglophone caregivers as well as caregivers in the region’s rural areas. At the Vaudreuil-Soulanges service point, the Société offers the following services:
- psychosocial support offered in the form of individual and family meetings as well as in a
group in the form of coffee-talks;
- information sessions as well as various training sessions.
This service complements the program implemented at the Valleyfield head office, as well as other services provided in the Vaudreuil-Dorion region. All services offered are tailored to the needs of the caregiver and the realities of the area. The majority of group activities are offered in the evening to respond to the circumstances of many of the area’s caregivers who still work as well.
Forget Me Not (Myosotis) Project – So caregivers are not forgotten
The Forget Me Not project is designed to provide respite to caregivers in the Suroît region, to prevent them from experiencing burnout. This service complements those that the Société Alzheimer Suroît and its partners offer in the region. The Société offers auxiliary respite through a drop-in respite service for caregivers so that they can participate in various support and training activities put on by the Société or its partners. Safe supervision and stimulation activities are provided during the drop-in respite.
The drop-in respite service is offered four days a week from 9:30 a.m. to 3 :30 p.m. in two service points to allow the largest number of caregivers possible to rest, recharge and have access to a welcoming environment where they can find information, training and support.
Information, training, consultation and psychosocial support services are planned every week for caregivers who are using the safe supervision service for their loved one while they are on site.
