TAKING CARE: A VIRTUAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENT FOR CAREGIVERS
The ALS Society of Quebec has launched a virtual learning environment called Taking Care that is intended for caregivers. The resources are categorized into four sections – depending on whether you prefer to read, listen, watch or surf the Internet – to help you find the information you’re looking for.
TAKING CARE VIDEO SERIES: LEARN TO ADAPT YOUR HOME
Again as part of the Taking Care program, four videos are available on Facebook and the YouTube channel of ALS-Quebec, for people with ALS and their loved ones. Occupational therapist Ann-Marie Léporé starts by presenting a general overview of the home modifications and adaptations possible before going into more depth about the key rooms: kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. A fun approach that can help reassure you while making your home more accessible and safer for your loved one.
FINDING SUPPORT AND SERVICES
The ALS-Quebec site provides you with tools and tips so that you have the necessary knowledge to support your loved one while keeping your own balance. You will find a list of ALS clinics that provide specialized care to people and families living with ALS. Other resources are also available, such as information on the disease, legal information and referrals to professionals in the health network.
CAREGIVER SUPPORT
Our Caregiver Support service is always there for you. Whether you need someone to listen to you, information or referrals, our counsellors are available during the week from 8 am to 8 pm. This service is free and confidential.
