Tour of the Regions: Chicoutimi AQDR

On October 14, 2020

L’Appui’s virtual tour showcases the inspiring initiatives in our community organizations across the province. For this last week of the tour, we visit the Saguenay region, more specifically Chicoutimi!

L’APPUI L'APPUI SAGUENAY-LAC-SAINT-JEAN - PROVIDING SUPPORT TO CAREGIVERS AND SENIORS

The Chicoutimi AQDR is a collective defence organization for the rights of retirees and pre-retirees. The association also offers several attendance services. Volunteers working for Le Bonjour Quotidien meet isolated seniors on a daily basis. Thanks to the support of l'Appui, the respite service allows caregivers of seniors suffering from cognitive diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, to take a break.

The Chicoutimi AQRD respite service team has more than thirty attendants. Some of these people are more than 70 years old and have been confined several weeks during the pandemic. But even during the confinement period, they provided respite services by phone.

The agency felt it was of capital importance to continue offering support to family caregivers and seniors during these difficult times of stress and anxiety.

Do you want to learn more about the services offered by the Chicoutimi AQDR? Visit their Web site or contact them by email.
